If I Knew

" If I knew the box where the smiles are kept,
No matter how large the key,
Or strong the bolt I would try so hard -
'Twould open, I know, for me.
Then over the land and sea broadcast
I'd scatter the smiles to play,
That the children's faces might hold them fast
For many and many a day.

If I knew the box that was large enough
To hold all the frowns I meet,
I would gather them every one
From the nursery, school or street,
Then, folding and holding, I'd pack them in
  And turning the monster key,
I'd hire a giant to drop the box
To the depths of the deep, deep sea. "

Birthdays are a joy deep down in the heart *

It is my darling sister's birthday tomorrow ... If I could chose one day to be able to fly ... tomorrow would be it ... over the seas and all the way to Sydney ... so my Tazi ... here's to your birthday tomorrow and to all the happiness you bring JUST by being here to share your contagious joy with all you meet ....  I love you ... to the moon and back x

Rooftops and skies ....

"Rooftops are romantic - not just because they are, metaphorically speaking, adjacent to the sky, but also because they are hidden away. Stand on a rooftop and you cannot help but have simultaneous thoughts about life's infinite possibilities and the omnipresent for self-distruction. Look to the heavens and you can think, everything is possible. Look to the heavens and you can also think, I am insignificant..."

- Douglas Kennedy "The Woman in the Fifth".

" I don't like food, I love it - and if I don't love it - I don't swallow" ...

... That is what food critic Anton Ego in "Ratatouille"  said and I have since made it my food "mantra" too. I do love food ... a whole big lot! On Saturday morning I awoke to a very sunnny day ... I read my book with the sunshine streaming through the windows and, after making a delicious chili and chive scrambled egg breakfast, I was off to the monthly Greek Food Market ... a sensory delight.

Just a few photos I took with my blackberry ...

I love this VERY "Pretty Blog" * (click to view)

My most favourite poem {... ever ... }

i carry your heart with me by E. E. Cummings
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

Exploring the many beautiful corners of South Africa - or taking a "short left" as we like to say here - is something that will leave you day-dreaming for hours ...
